US Census schedules are among the most useful resources available to family historians. They contain valuable information about occupants of each household on a specific date.

The official enumeration day of the 1820 US Census was 7 August 1820. All questions asked were supposed to refer to that date. By 1820, there were a total of twenty-three states in the Union.
